The Social Contract
In a context overrun by social tensions and polarisation among citizens, it is both good and necessary to rethink the meaning and the scope of the social covenants that hold up the so-called welfare state. Growing economic inequality, unemployment, the dynamics of production brought about by technological and digital advances, an increase in life expectancy and the reconfiguration of civil life all give us good reason to reflect on the basic pillars that, despite our differences, help us pull together in search of a shared horizon. Is it possible to hold out hope... or even build hope?
