What can we do about loneliness?
by Sara Marsillas

Interview

Loneliness or lonelinesses?

In this Café, we spoke with Sara Marsillas, PhD in Psychology, expert in solitude and researcher in Matia Instituto. Loneliness is now a topic of everyday conversation, but feeling lonely is still experienced with a certain stigma, which stops us from discussing our distress. Dr Marsillas talked to us about recognising different types of loneliness and gave us some tips on how to prevent it and how we can build a society of mutual emotional support. Her expert advice for tackling the causes of the subjective feeling of loneliness includes generating social bonds, learning how to navigate conflict and finding meaning in what we do.
