Call to support research projects on childhood and vulnerability
The Social Observatory of the ”la Caixa” Foundation is opening a call to support research projects in social sciences that use data from quantitative surveys on factors of vulnerability in childhood in Spain.
Each project selected will receive up to 30,000 euros (including applicable taxes).
The period for presenting applications will be open from 15 March to 5 April 2023.
WE ARE SEEKING
-
Research projects that are original and have a quantitative basis, on issues of special relevance within the current socioeconomic context.
-
Proposals that study current challenges related with situations of vulnerability in childhood, accepting as objects of study all typologies of situations of vulnerability and all age ranges of the individuals studied.
-
Without this list being exclusive, subjects of study accepted will include the following types of situations in relation to childhood (defined as the life period comprised between the ages of 0 and 16 years):
-
Factors that hinder the development of the necessary living skills for each person’s integration and autonomy.
-
Factors that prevent social and educational development or undermine opportunities in this respect.
-
Factors that lead to situations of child poverty.
-
Impairment of children’s rights.
-
Factors that put a person at risk of being harmed, abused, pursued, discriminated against, undermined or negatively influenced by hostile agents against whom they find themselves in a situation of inferiority, defencelessness or fragility.
-
Subjective factors of vulnerability (fear, uncertainty, feeling of insecurity, loss of self-esteem and confidence in own capabilities, feeling of vulnerability in the face of present and future threats, etc.).
-
Objective factors of vulnerability (evolution of the labour market, cuts in social protection resources, public safety, environmental deterioration, social climate, etc.).
-
The dynamic combination of these or other factors that influence vulnerability.
-
Social groups especially at risk of vulnerability.
